1988
Elisabeth and Dr. Ivan Misner found the BNI foundation bringing the concept of Givers Gain to support children and education in local communities. Since then, millions of dollars have been given in grants, both nationally and internationally.
2014
Inspired by the vision of Elisabeth Misner, the Business Voices Initiative is launched to help BNI members become actively involved in their local communities by donating their time, talent, knowledge and experience.
2018
The BNI Foundation Worldwide Inc. officially obtains Public Charity Status
2019
The BNI Foundation Australia was established and was the 7th country in the world to create a national BNI Foundation, adapted to the local Australian culture.
2022
Future Leaders Week established for BNI Chapters to engage with local schools, teaching basic business and networking skills, and provide practical career orientation advice to students.

Frederick Marcoux
Co-Founder & Board Member, BNI Foundation Australia
Frederick Marcoux is the Co-Founder of the BNI Foundation Australia and has served as the Owner and CEO of BNI in Australia since 2007.
With a deep passion for creating opportunities for disadvantaged children, Frederick is proud to see the BNI community come together through the Foundation to make a tangible difference in education across the country.
His leadership continues to inspire a national movement of giving rooted in BNI’s core philosophy of Givers Gain®.

Lisa Thomas
Co-Founder & Regional Task Force Member, BNI Foundation Australia
Lisa has been a passionate BNI leader for over 14 years, starting as a member and growing into a national trainer and Executive Director supporting chapters across Melbourne and beyond. She is deeply committed to helping members transform their businesses and lives through the BNI system.
A founding director of the BNI Foundation Australia, Lisa has played a pivotal role in building the bridge between business and education to support children experiencing disadvantage. Her belief in collaborative impact is also reflected in her role on the Franchise Council of Australia’s Victorian Chapter.
Lisa brings warmth, wisdom, and a love of community to everything she does. A self-declared trivia queen and nature lover, she lives in Melbourne with her husband Steve and their beloved Pekingese, Bonnie — also known as the Queen of Puckle Street.

Liza Garrido
Board Member, BNI Foundation Australia
With over three decades in Human Resources and as the founder of Enigma HR and TryPOD Australia, now celebrating 27 years in business, Liza Garrido is a powerhouse of influence and leadership.
A proud BNI member for 15 years, she has grown two HR businesses through the generosity of the BNI community and now leads as Executive Director of both Sydney Inner West and Sydney Central regions. Liza often says BNI is the “biggest HR business” she’s ever come across.

National Operations Coordinator
Nika Basiron has been a dedicated volunteer with the BNI Foundation Australia for over three years and is a proud BNI member through her business, Great Full Giving—a corporate gifting company that helps businesses create deeper connections through thoughtful, values-based gifting.
In 2025, Nika officially joined the Foundation as National Operations Coordinator, a role that felt like a natural extension of her giving journey. She brings a unique blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and heart-centered operations to national programs such as the Givers Gain® Grants and Business Voices™ Projects, ensuring that every initiative flows seamlessly from intention to impact.
Whether she’s curating bespoke gift boxes or managing cross-state fundraising campaigns, Nika leads with purpose, always seeking to make giving feel great—for everyone involved.
