Givers Gain Grants
Givers Gain® Grants are targeted monetary gifts — typically $1,000 (larger projects up to $10,000 may be considered) — awarded to schools and child-focused educational charities across Australia.
These small but impactful grants help bridge resource gaps by funding things like school supplies, learning tools, tutoring, and wellbeing programs.
Each grant empowers communities to support children’s education where it’s needed most — turning BNI connections into real-world impact.
HOW TO gET iNVOLVED
Support that’s Simple, Fast, and Focused
At the BNI Foundation Australia, our Givers Gain® Gifts are small, high-impact financial gifts (Usually $1,000) designed to meet a clear, immediate educational need.
Givers Gain Gifts are available to eligible schools or registered charities across Australia that support children’s education and wellbeing. Whether it’s new uniforms, school supplies, technology, books, or resources to launch a special learning project — we help fill the gap with fast, practical funding.
We prioritise real-world outcomes that empower students to learn, grow, and thrive.
What We Fund
Givers Gain Grants are intended to support specific educational needs that directly benefit children. Common examples include:
- Classroom resources (books, stationery, whiteboards)
- Uniforms or school bags
- Equipment for literacy, STEM or wellbeing programs
- Items needed for excursions, literacy, camps, or cultural learning
- Support for specialist programs (e.g. agriculture, VR, arts)
We do not fund general operations, staff salaries, marketing, or capital works.
Each Givers Gain Gift is designed to solve one focused need — and show real, measurable impact for the school or students involved.
Who Can Apply
Givers Gain® Gifts are available by referral only — nominations must be made by a current BNI Member, Foundation Ambassador, or Executive Director. We do not accept direct applications from schools or the public.
We provide support to:
- Australian schools that serve communities facing disadvantage (measured by an ICSEA rating below 1,000)
- Registered Australian charities with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, supporting children’s access to or success in education
To be eligible, the school or charity must:
- Be located in Australia
- Have a clear, defined educational need
- Be willing to provide feedback or photos to help us share the impact on our social media and internal channels

How It Works
- Nomination
A school or charity is referred by a BNI Member, Ambassador, or Executive Director. - Eligibility Check
We confirm that the organisation meets our criteria (e.g. ICSEA rating under 1,000 or valid DGR status). - GGG Form Completion
If eligible, the nominee is invited to complete a Givers Gain Gift Request Form, sent via their local Ambassador.We have 2 Submission Rounds for Givers Gain Gifts:
Round 1 – Submit your request by end of April. Payments to be made from May-June
Round 2 – Submit your Request by end of September. Payments to be made in October- November
- Board Review
All completed requests are reviewed at the Foundation’s board meetings in
- May for Round 1 and
- October for Round 2, where we consider:
- Urgency and clarity of the need
- Potential for impact
- Alignment with our mission and current funding availability
- Decision & Notification
If approved, funds are released directly to the school or charity within the following 2 months after approval (depending if we need to organise an additional fundraiser), and the nominator is notified. - Celebrating Impact
We invite recipients to share a brief story or photos (with consent), helping us thank donors and inspire future giving.

Givers Gain Gifts are usually around $1,000 so we can help more communities. However, if we already partner with you and your project needs more, speak with your local Ambassador—they may coordinate a regional fundraiser or Business Voices initiative.

We check eligibility (e.g., ICSEA < 1,000 for schools or valid DGR for charities).
If eligible, the organisation is invited to apply via our Givers Gain Gift (GGG) Request Form, which is sent by a local Ambassador.
We have 2 Givers Gain Gift Rounds. Round 1 submissions close on the 31st of May for payments to be made in June/ July. Round 2 submissions close on 30 September for payments to be made October/ November. All complete, eligible requests submitted by these deadlines are reviewed at the BNI Foundation Australia board meeting.
Funds are paid directly to the school or charity, and the nominator is notified. A local Ambassador may support delivery and impact follow-up.
It may be deferred or declined based on criteria or available funds. We may suggest alternate support (e.g., regional fundraising or a Business Voices project).
Yes. However, to share support broadly, generally only one successful grant per 12 months per organisation is recommended.
